Rejectee Therapy for Wine Cop
Started by Shawn Bowers on Jul 29, 2013

Cool show. I think you guys should just make something else. This one didn't quite hit but it's not a bad show. Funny performers, silly premise. I think Spencer might be onto something that there's maybe too many logic jumps - but I think you're just missing the undefinable "magic" that comes from getting into the right groove.

Maybe part of the problem is you don't get a ton of mileage out of the variety of wine jokes? I dunno! I don't want to overthink it. I liked it.

And man, I saw a great joke about crossing under multiple police caution tape lines that you guys must've cut down? I thought that was about to get super funny and you should've kept that in the edit.

    Hope this helps!

  • Fun show. I think it may be a bit confusing though.

He's a cop who solves crime by identifying wine. OK. Big ask of the audience, but fun. He's also sleeping with the President. Wait, what? Now this winery wants to kill people, specifically the President. Why? For what reason? Plz explain.

You need to map out the logic that you're playing with. Why are characters doing what they're doing in this world? Check out Baby Mentalist for a good example of what I'm talking about. Randall created a straight up cop show EXCEPT that their baby is so fucking good at solving crimes that people forgive the fact that it's a baby. That fact explains everyone else's behavior.

Anyways, just my two cents. Keep up the good work!

  • Yeah, we sent to the address listed on the Submissions page. That's weird, maybe it got lost somewhere along the way?

Am I able to send it off again to try for the August screening? Don't want to pester but would love for it to get seen.

  • I don't think we saw this at the panel. Did you guys send to the PO box?
