  • Thanks, Dave. You're 100% right about the static shots and the white walls.

I'm not much of a DP and most of my friends live in a bare apartment. My whole goal with this one was just to get some proper lighting.

But camera moves and production design are definitely next on my check list.

  • I don't even know if it was necessarily the cliffhanger. It wasn't really a cliffhanger it felt more like an anti-climax. It woulda been so nice if he woulda just cut that wire even after waking up. But I know that's not the gag you were going for.

I think with stuff like this, the show should match the style of what you're parodying. This show was shot pretty static and spent a lot of time on white walls in apartments, and that was really distracting. Try to find places to shoot that look a bit more interesting than this. Try to come up with some cool stuff to do with the camera to keep your audience engaged.

I thought the sleepwalking thing was really interesting. It was cool when it felt like a little bit of a "Do No Harm" parody on top of the "Walker Texas Ranger" thing.

But yeah, not bad. You know what you're doing Matt and I'm excited to see more stuff from you. Just didn't add up this time around.

  • Hey Matt,

This show definitely got laughs. I think this might would have had a better chance without the cliffhanger ending. It had some good things going for it, but that's probably where you lost the panel. Personally, I don't like cliffhanger endings in any channel 101 show, but especially not in a pilot.
