Rejectee Therapy for Movies To Go To The Movies For
Started by Dustin Hahn on Sep 28, 2014
  • Hey Dustin,

    Thanks for making and submitting.

For me, the main reason your show was rejected was mostly the premise. A movie review show will have a hard time here unless it has a great twist to it, or goes in a cool direction, or is just so funny that we know it will play well at the screening. We laughed at a few of the bits, but then we saw it was just going to be a movie review show.

Characters and story should be the main focus of a Channel 101 show. We will gravitate towards a good show with characters and plot, more so than a hilarious sketch.

With that said, shows like this can work. Adding even a touch of character development, story, and hinting at a larger world will do wonders. Mike McCafferty has made an art out of taking premises like this and injecting character and story. Look as his newest show "Frontier" when it's posted and you'll see what I mean. The "Inside Outside Hollywood" show falls into a similar category and screened because even though the premise was about Hollywood tours, there were other characters and story that we could latch onto.

Hope to see you making something again soon.
